Want to Up-Level Your Life? Start with These Three Things

Aug 20, 2024

The desire to improve our lives is a lifelong journey. So many beautiful experiences can take place when we decide to make changes that affect us for the better!

Unfortunately, many people get stuck in a low frequency energy that prevents them from finding joy in all that life has to offer and creating a life they truly enjoy. But this doesn’t have to be the case. Here are three things you can do starting now to level up your life:

  1. Stop waiting for your ideal circumstances in order to feel like you can enjoy things.

It’s not what you do, it’s how you do whatever it is you’re doing. Life is not a series of ideal moments, and if you’re waiting for those moments to justify feeling good about life, you’re going to find that you’re wasting most of your precious time.

If you live your life with low energy and frustration or a lack of motivation or commitment during those mundane things, you probably also say things like, “If I could just get/make/do X, then I would be happy/everything would be great…”

That’s a shame, because a large majority of your lifetime is going to be spent doing other things, not actually living in the midst of your ideal.  And even when you achieve your goals, it feels good and then something else comes along. Time doesn’t stand still in those lovely moments and wishing it did is just a time waste.

You can enjoy the act of doing so many things that aren’t part of your ideal moments. Why do things like cleaning, and dealing with emails, and anything else you might find to be lack-luster have to be things that we think of as “bad”? What would happen if you infused joy into these things as well as the things you loved to do? Life could become a series of joyful moments, regardless of what you’re doing.

Now this doesn’t mean that you’re happy all the time, or that you don’t deal with adversity. Of course you do. But you’ll stop wallowing in low frequency emotions that don’t allow you to live your life in the present moment and to appreciate all things that you do as opposed to a select few.

  1. Don’t listen to people who tell you that you’re not capable of doing things.

We hear stories all the time of people who are told by doctors they only have a certain amount of time to live, or they’ll never walk again, only for them to defy the odds and come out stronger.

The same goes for people who were told by teachers that they’d never amount to anything or those told by someone that they couldn’t do something – there are so many stories of people who have refused to allow the limitations prescribed by others to determine what they can or can’t do. They move forward as if that isn’t an option and they see what happens. Oftentimes, they are able to overcome things or progress much farther than what was assumed possible.

These stories tell us that determination, mindset, and attitude are far better indicators of what someone can do. There are certainly times when one can give it her all and still not be able to overcome an obstacle or an illness, but the odds are SO much higher when one decides not to give up.

Other people don’t have the right to decide you should give up on something. They can give you an opinion, they can tell you what the odds are, and they can tell you what you’re up against, but allowing them to tell you that you can’t do something, and taking that as a truth, is a choice.

You don’t have to choose that.

This goes both ways - don’t tell other people they’re not capable of doing things either. People don’t need the limiting beliefs of others.

  1. Identify anything in your life that’s not moving you forward and get rid of it now.

Things, people, behaviors, thoughts – there can be many things in our lives that work against us creating the life we truly desire. That friend who always shoots down your ideas and tells you they would never work; the lack of follow through that keeps you from achieving things; that pesky little voice that tells you you’re not good enough…

Take inventory of what’s working in your life and what really isn’t – and be honest. Sometimes we allow certain things to go on and on because we have some sort of attachment to them; this is especially true for people. But if there is something or someone in your life that’s keeping down or robbing you of your energy, it’s time to let it go.

Life is too short to stay in a pool of low frequency energy, always wishing things were better! If you want things to be better, make them better. Letting go of things that no longer serve you is a good way to start.

It doesn’t cost you a dime to release things from your life that are stagnant or negative. And if it’s actual things taking up your space, you might even make a dime or two if you sell them! We don’t need things for the sake of having things – a big part of well-being is having a space filled with positive energy, and you can help to create that by limiting what you have to things that are truly meaningful to you.

“Cluttered space, cluttered mind” is a saying for a reason – there’s an expansive feeling that comes from creating meaning and simplicity in your environment. And perhaps ‘cluttered environment’ is actually a more encompassing way of including those people, behaviors, and thoughts as causes of a cluttered mind as well.

You know the saying, “What got you here won’t get you there.” Leveling up your life means making some changes. Some changes will feel immediately empowering, and some might feel difficult or even painful to implement. But isn’t your life worth it? So many people have proven that you can go from low places to high places just by changing your idea of what you think is possible. You can do it! And if you think you can’t and you’re serious about leveling up, that thought in itself will have to be the first thing to go.
